Manifestation Hetfet/Hetfet protest

Les manifestants Hetfet ont perturbé un rally pour augmenter la prise de conscience de l'importance de garder nos vertes forêts pour protéger les créatures mythiques comme les Elfes, les Fées et les Trolls.

Des douzaines de manifestants armés de panneaux "Sauvez les Trolls" ont perturbé un rassemblement au Jacob Javit's Center de New York le week-end passé, pour essayer de faire prendre conscience d'une organisation appelée Hetfet, mais après un court moment, la police est arrivée et les a dispersés, bougeant par la force quelques manifestants dans l'action.

Se réclamant serviteurs de la paix et de l'harmonie pour les créatures vivantes, les manifestants d'Hetfet se sont arrêtés dans différents lieux de New-York, où ils ont chanté et ont marché des heures pour faire augmenter la prise de conscience de "l'empiètement des hommes et de la façon dont ils souillent l'habitat des Trolls, ainsi que celui des autres créatures mythiques". Le groupe a aussi distribué des stickers et des flyers promouvant leur site internet, www.hetfet.org.

"Nous sommes dans la ville de New York, le plus grand sybole des excès du genre humain, pour être la voix d'une race mourante", a dit l'un des protestants, avant l'arrivée de la police. "Les Trolls sont une espèce dépréciée et en danger dont les voix crient pour se faire entendre."

HETFET, un mouvement populaire consacré à promouvoir et à développer une compréhension et une appréciation de toutes les créatures mystiques, est cette voix. Et à en juger par le taux de participation de la manifestation d'aujourd'hui, cette voix est prête à se faire entendre sur la scène mondiale.

Au milieu des chants "hé toi, pourquoi es-tu haineux, les Trolls ne sont pas à exploiter", et "Hey Elf, pourquoi as-tu le sourire, parce que Hetfet a sauvé ma peau", les organisateurs de la manif ont confirmé que cet évènement était juste "l'arbre qui cache la forêt" de ce qu'ils plannifient. "Nous montons à la charge parce que quelqu'un doit le faire. HETFET est ici pour rester!"

Même s'ils étaient en petit nombre, les manifestants étaient énergiques et engagés dans la sensibilisation. A un moment, la manif a pris possession de l'entrée du Convention Center, bloquant les voitures et les piétons quelques minutes jusqu'à ce que la sécurité arrive pour dégager l'endroit, et ça a été le début des ennuis.

Bientôt, la police est arrivée sur place, et même si la plupart du groupe était coopératif, la police a dit que certains manifestants "hors contrôle" avaient besoin d'être contrôlés par la force.

Une bonne partie de cette manifestation était centrée autour du sort des créatures des bois, dont Hetfet clame qu'ils ont un besoin criant d'aide. D'après l'avocate Elizabeth Moora, "La déforestation est en train de conduire la population des elfes, lutins et trolls au bord de l'extinction. Sauver un arbre, sauvez un elfe! Et si certains d'entre nous ont besoin d'être incarcérés pour le message soit entendu, qu'il en soit ainsi! "

Au-delà de ces arrestations, d'autres controverses se sont tissées autour de cette manifestation. Des rumeurs comme quoi le rassemblement ne serait rien d'autre qu'une astuce  publicitaire cuisinée pour promouvoir la suite d'Hellboy. Interrogés sur la rumeur, les manifestants ont formellement démenti ces allégations. "Nous ne sommes certainement pas lié à un film. C'est absurde! "

D'après les dires d'un officier de police qui souhaite rester anonyme, "s'il s'agit d'un faux, personne ne nous l'a dit. Aussi loin que la police de New York est concernée, tout cela est réel, aussi réel qu'un tas de câlineurs d'arbres puisse l'être, en tout cas. Euh, oubliez la dernière partie, ok?"

 Dozens of protesters armed with “Save The Trolls” signs disrupted a gathering at New York City’s Jacob Javits Center this past weekend, intent on raising awareness for a grassroots organization called Humans for the Ethical Treatment of Fairies, Elves and Trolls (HETFET), but after a short time, police arrived on the scene to disperse them, forcebly removing several of the protestors in the process.

Claiming to be servants of peace and harmony for all living creatures, these HETFET supporters stopped at various landmarks in Manhattan, where they chanted and marched for several hours to raise awareness of “man’s encroachment and defiling of the troll habitat, as well as those of other ‘mystical creatures’.”  The group also handed out stickers and fliers promoting their website, http://www.hetfet.org.

“We are here in New York City, the greatest symbol of mankind’s excesses, to lend a voice to a dying breed,” said one protestor, prior to the police’s arrival. “Trolls are a maligned and endangered species whose voices are crying out to be heard. ”

HETFET, a grass roots movement devoted to promoting and developing an understanding and appreciation for all mystical creatures, is that voice. And judging by the turnout of today’s demonstration, that voice is ready to project onto the world stage.

Amidst chants of “Hey you, why you hatin’, trolls ain’t for exploitatin’ (sic), and ”Hey Elf, why the grin, ‘cause HETFET’s here to save my skin,” protest organizers confirmed that this event was barely “scratching the surface” of what they have planned.  “We’re leading the charge because somebody has to. HETFET is here to stay!”

Although small in numbers, the protestors were energetic and committed to raising awareness. At one point, the demonstration took hold of the entrance to the convention center, blocking car and foot traffic for several minutes until security arrived to clear the area, and that was the beginning of the trouble.

Soon, police arrived on the scene, and while most of the group was cooperative, police say several “unruly” protestors needed to be forcibly restrained.

Much of this protest centered around the plight of woodland creatures, whom HETFET claims are in dire need of help.  Said advocate Elizabeth Moora, “Deforestation is driving the population of elves, pixies and trolls to the brink of extinction.  Save a tree, save an elf! And if some of us need to be incarcerated for the word to get out, then so be it!”

Beyond the arrests, some other controversies loomed around this demonstration as well.  Rumors spread that the gathering was nothing more than a publicity stunt cooked up to advertise the upcoming Hellboy movie sequel. When asked about the rumor, protesters vehemently denied the allegations. “We are certainly not tied to any motion picture. That is absurd!”

Said a police officer who wished to be kept anonymous, “If this was a fake, nobody told us about it. As far as the NYPD is concerned, this was the real deal—or as real as a bunch of tree huggers can get, anyway. Uh, take out that last part, okay?”
